Donald Trump Family Tree

The family tree of Donald Trump, currently president-elect

The family tree of Donald Trump, currently president-elect

To continue with my tradition of including famous family trees as new presidential figures come into the spotlight, I’m doing an ahnentafel chart for the current president-elect, Donald Trump.

Given his stance on immigration, there have been a lot of references in the press about his own family’s status as immigrants in the past, so I figured that it was a perfect tree to research next. That is also why I decided to include the regions where his ancestors were born, which I don’t usually do.

Elvis Presley Family Tree

Family tree and ancestors of Elvis Presley

Family tree and ancestors of Elvis Presley

The anniversary of his death is coming up in August, and I thought I would pay tribute to one of the greatest musicians in American history: Elvis Presley.

He was born, along with his still-born twin brother Jesse, on January 8th in 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. His life began without much fanfare as his family was not particularly wealthy. Even so, he followed his passion in music and recorded his first single, Heartbreak Hotel, in 1954. Everything after that is history. To date, he has sold more than a billion records world-wide.

His full and colourful life is more than can be quickly summarized here. A more complete biography of Elvis can be found online, but I have his immediate family tree and ancestors here. (more…)

The Life of Annie Moore

By Terri Paajanen

If the name doesn’t ring any bells with you, she was the first person to immigrate to the United States through the famous port at Ellis Island.

history of Annie Moore and Ellis Island

Annie Moore was the first person to come to the USA through Ellis Island.

More than 12 million people arrived in America at Ellis Island between the years 1892 and 1954, coming from all parts of the world to live in the United States. But on the first day, it was 15-year old Annie Moore who was first. She was coming from County Cork in Ireland with her 2 younger brothers (Anthony and Phillip). Their parents were already in New York having travelled previously to get established. Annie and her siblings had spent 12 days on a ship, in the steerage compartment.

To commemorate her arrival, she got a $10 gold coin and there is now a statue of her on the island. Seven hundred other people were processed that day after Annie. (more…)

Justin Bieber Family Tree

Justin Bieber's Family Tree

Justin Bieber’s Family Tree

Since I tend to focus on historical figures around here, I thought I’d prove that I can be hip and cool too, even if nobody says “hip” anymore. So for my 8-year old daughter, here is the family tree of pop sensation Justin Bieber.

I hope to have a more complete chart soon, but the most available information is for his mother’s French-Canadian side. I had no idea that was his background. He and I may actually be cousins. Gotta check on that. There are 8 generations in this chart, but more information is available farther back than that. I may complete a longer chart in the future. (more…)

Stephen King Family Tree

Stephen King family tree

The genealogy of master horror writer Stephen King

Even you aren’t a fan of his work, you can’t deny that Stephen King is one of the most popular writers of our time. He’s best known for his horror work even though he has written several novels from other genres that have been just as well received. Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, the Green Mile and Hearts in Atlantis are three good examples. You might know them better as movies though since all three have been adapted to the screen. His epic Dark Tower series is another non-horror tale that spans 7 huge books.

It wasn’t always like this for him. His first novel (the thriller Carrie) was repeatedly rejected before finally being published. Since then, he’s gotten extensive world-wide fame. Now you can find out a little bit more about Stephen King’s family tree. (more…)
